The SAD, or Single Administrative Document, is a document that must be filled out in customs processes in order to successfully carry out goods transport operations. Therefore, if necessary, it is also used for the tax return. Do you want to know how it works?
Logistics operations requiring SAD
In logistics operations, the Single Administrative Document is the order of the day. It has 9 different sections and the information to be filled in depends on the type of merchandise exchange to be carried out. Therefore, in order to know what to fill in, it is first necessary to know what exchange of goods is to be carried out.
Who files DUA?
There are certain logistic operations that require a SAD. Therefore, SAD must be filed in the following cases:
- Persons receiving the goods
- Persons shipping the goods
Among the logistic operations that require a SAD, we highlight the presence of non-EU goods with different characteristics, intra-EU exchanges, provisioning operations, flows of goods to Ceuta and Melilla and many others. Please note that you will need to review it thoroughly to ensure that you are required to file and what you are required to file.
However, the SAD is applied depending on the type of transport operation, hence there are usually doubts about the logistic operations that require SAD; since they include exports, imports and transit operations.
- When exporting, it is necessary to present 3 copies. Number 1 for the customs office of dispatch, number 3 for the interested party and number 4 to justify the Community status of the goods.
- When importing merchandise, it will be necessary to complete the 6 for import and the 8 for the interested party.
- In transit operations it is necessary to fill in number 1 for the customs office of dispatch, number 4 for the destination and number 5 as a waybill to return it.
This document can be submitted online. In some cases, they may be required to be presented to the customs authorities (as we will see below if documentation is required), but this does not have to be the case.
Once received, Customs will respond by assigning a channel that will determine the control for the merchandise. It can be green (everything fast and smooth), orange (documentation to be checked), yellow (goods to be checked) and red (goods and documentation to be checked).
